Life in South Africa

It is that time of year again. A time when the people have no power. That means dark nights, no internet and food going off in the fridge and freezer!

Its Load Shedding time.

if you don’t know what that means, it means at least 4 hours of scheduled power blackouts a day. Sometimes almost 10 hours.

Every time a blackout happens, I find myself singing (in my head) UB4O’s song, “If it happens again, I’m leaving; I’ll pack up my things and goooo….” But then it does happen again, and I find myself still here!!!

I can’t tell you how many candles we have used. The other day, we forgot some 2 candles in the bathroom on the toilet tank, and in the morning, there was orange and white candle wax hanging down the potty tank  like stalactites.

so today, I went to the shop and bought a hurricane lamp and some lamp oil.

Hurricane lamp to save the nights!

And then, I heard that Eskom was looking for a lady by the name of Jenna Raters! (Generators)
